Job description:

The social media editor is an integral part of the Weekly’s team, ensuring that our stories about the South Side can reach a wide audience online.

  • Write and post social media content promoting South Side Weekly content on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages. (Posts can be scheduled ahead of time but should go up throughout the week.)
  • Manage the South Side Weekly’s social media pages. This includes passing relevant comments or questions onto the editors, RTing other positive people’s mentions of the Weekly, etc.
  • Curate relevant links from other outlets to post on our Twitter account.
  • Promote South Side Weekly events, like open houses and workshops, on social media.

 

Time commitment:

Approximately 5-10 hours a week.

Qualifications:

Social media savvy, interest in original reporting about the South Side. Previous experience running social media for a publication or nonprofit organization is a big plus.
